one of the results of unschooling...

This is my older son's latest work, recently uploaded to his Deviant Art account. It is called Hands of Comfort, and clicking on the photo will give you a larger image where you can see the many hands offering comfort.

He's been teaching himself to use Photoshop over these past five years or so and he collaborates with other artists and colors in their line drawings. Though to call it 'coloring in' doesn't quite give credit to the amount of work and attention to detail that goes into what he does.

This was done with his tablet laptop and new brushes that he is learning to use. This proud mama feels that he has done quite well in developing his skills and understanding of the uses of color and shading ;-).

P.S. In George's own words from his page...

Looks a lot better in Fullview, so check it out!

Credits on the first paragraph, as always:

Original Lineart ([link]) by :iconepicmyst: (*EpicMyst)
Coloring by :iconjioruji-derako: (myself)
Make sure to check out Epic's gallery! She's got tons of awesome works like this one. :D

There's more to read from him on how this was created...GEO...and more from her on why she created the original...EpicMyst...

I didn't know you homeschool! How beautiful! I did it for two years, and loved it, and am in awe of anyone who can do it for so long. Your son has great talent and how important that he works so hard at it! It is always great to see a young person with a passion for something.

Thanks, Kateri.
George has always been self-directed. That's actually what led me to start homeschooling in the first place. It's become a way of life for us, it would be hard to imagine living any other way at this point.
